School Day
On the Friday of the event from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., the Saukville Crossroads Rendezvous offers a School Day, designed specifically for area schoolchildren to experience history firsthand. This experience is primarily geared towards students in 4th through 8th grade, but is open to all ages, as well as homeschooling groups. The cost is $3/child (Teachers and Chaperones are free).
Schools or large homeschooling groups who wish to participate in the School Day must register for planning purposes. Prior to the event, a welcome letter and invoice will be sent, based on the number of children attending. Small groups of homeschoolers or local families with young children do not need to register; simply pay per child at the gate . The general public is also welcome to attend our School Day; however, adults with no children will be charged the weekend entry fees.
The School Day is divided into two sessions, with a lunch break from 11 a.m. - noon in between for both participants and students. You may elect to spend the whole day with us, or choose a morning session (9 a.m. - 11 a.m./noon) or an afternoon session (11 a.m./noon - 2 p.m.). Groups may choose to bring their own lunches and eat on site between 11 and noon; during this time, we will be offering a special presentation under the big tent while the rest of the stations will be closed for lunch.
**Visitors: please note that the camps will be closed for lunch between 11 a.m. and noon. School Days are very involved; participants need this break time and we ask that you give them space and refrain from going into camp during this hour. We ask that all visitors take in the program in the big tent during this time.
Please look for the "Educational Resources" link below, which contains a variety of links relating to the Fur Trade, as well as Wisconsin History, the French & Indian War, the Revolutionary War, and the War of 1812. We will continually be adding to this resource and appreciate any suggestions for additions.
